The service
Hanzi Constellation is a reference and learning tool for Chinese characters, offered as a free web version and one-time-purchase unlocks (the full map and optional expansion packs).
Your license
A purchase grants you a personal, non-transferable license to use the unlocked content on your devices, indefinitely. It is a license to use the product, not ownership of the underlying data or software. One purchase covers one person’s use; classroom licensing will be offered separately.
Purchases and refunds
App purchases follow the refund policies of the App Store or Google Play. Web purchases are refundable within 14 days of purchase — emailsupport@hanzi-constellation.app with your licence key. Expansion packs are separate one-time purchases; buying one never converts anything into a subscription.
Data sources and attribution
Character and vocabulary data derive from open sources including the Unicode Unihan database, CC-CEDICT, and open decomposition projects, used under their respective licenses with attribution in the app. Definitions derived from CC-CEDICT remain available under its share-alike license.
Acceptable use
Don’t redistribute the paid data packs, resell access, or use automated tools to extract the dataset. Printables and handouts may be used freely in your own classroom.
No warranty
The product is provided “as is.” We work hard on accuracy — readings, tones, and levels — but make no guarantee the content is error-free, and we are not liable for consequences of relying on it (including exam outcomes).
Changes
These terms may be updated; material changes will be dated at the top of this page. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.
